Morocco break Luxembourg resistance

Luxembourg 0-2 Morocco Late goals from Morocco frustrate Luxembourg.

Luxembourg 0-2 Morocco
Late goals from Mohammed Jabrane and Nouredine Kacimi gave Morocco victory in Luxembourg tonight to frustrate home coach Alan Simonsen as his side continued their preparation for their EURO 2004™ Group 2 campaign.

Resolute performance
Danish-born Simonsen is still looking for his first win after eight months in charge and, despite a resolute performance from his side, they never looked like breaking that duck against the North Africans.

Remy effort
The hosts, spurred on by a crowd of 1,654, almost took the lead twice at the start of the second half but debutant Sebastien Remy's 51st-minute header was well saved by keeper Abdelilah Bagui and Marcel Christophe toe-poked an effort a minute later on to the post.

Gillet mistake
The visitors always looked dangerous going forward, however, although their opener came courtesy of a mistake from home keeper Stéphane Gillet in the 71st minute. Gillet, who celebrated his 25th birthday yesterday, failed to make sufficient contact on an attempted punch and the ball fell invitingly to Jabrane who made no mistake from close range.

Kacimi run
Five minutes from time a neat individual run saw Kacimi, another of coach Baddou Zaki's second-half changes, cut in from the left to fire into the far corner to put the result beyond doubt.
