Zbigniew Boniek has named his squad for Poland's first EURO 2004™ qualifier away to San Marino.

Safe hands
Following last week's 1-1 draw with Belgium in Szczecin in a friendly match, Boniek has decided to leave out Radoslaw Majdan (PAOK Thessaloniki), Bartosz Karwan (Hertha BSC Berlin), Cezary Kucharski (Legia Warszawa) and Pawel Kryszalowicz (Eintracht Frankfurt). As expected Liverpool FC goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek and Panathinaikos FC striker Emmanuel Olisadebe have been recalled, while PAOK's Mariusz Kukielka, who has recovered from a serious injury, and Tomasz Dawidowski, of KS Amica Wronki, have also been named in the squad.

Hole to fill
"I called up 17 players, but after this weekend's matches I will add the name of one more player, a defender," Boniek said. The match against San Marino will be played on 7 September in Serravalle. Poland are in Group 4, along with Sweden, Hungary, Latvia and San Marino.

Poland squad
Dudek, Kowalewski, Jacek Bak, Kos, Michal Zewlakow, Glowacki, Kus, Lewandowski, Kaluzny, Kukielka, Kosowski, Kaczorowski, Dawidowski, Wichniarek, Zurawski, Olisadebe, Marcin Zewlakow.
