Article body
The reconstructed Bulgarian national stadium will be ready to host Croatia in a EURO 2004™ qualifying match on 12 October, it has been confirmed.
Final stage
Work on Sofia's Vasilij Levski arena began in 1998, and the final stage of work began on 1 April with the capacity being raised to an all-seated 54,000 in order to meet safety standards.
Delayed opening
Although the re-opening was originally scheduled for June, financial constraints meant the date had to be put back to the start of their Group 8 schedule, in which Bulgaria will also face Belgium, Estonia and Andorra.
Sofia alternatives
For the past four years, Bulgaria have played their matches at either FC CSKA Sofia's Bulgarska Armia stadium or PFC Levski Sofia's Georgi Asparuhov home.
