Wales call up teenager

Wales have called Lee Fowler into their squad for Wednesday's international with Argentina.

Wales have called up Coventry City FC's teenage striker Lee Fowler for the first time for Wednesday's international with Argentina in Cardiff.

Hughes assesses options
The 18-year-old striker has broken into Coventry's senior team this season, and has attracted the attention of Wales manager Mark Hughes as he assesses his options ahead of his country's qualification campaign for EURO 2004™. Cardiff-born Fowler has missed many of Wales' youth matches over the past 18 months because of injuries but he has played for the Under-16s and Under-17s, although he is yet to figure in the Under-21 side.

Other additions
Wales have also added Wigan Athletic FC's Simon Haworth, Nottingham Forest FC's Christian Edwards and Fulham FC's Paul Trollope have also been called in. Hughes has lost Andy Johnson, Kit Symons, Jason Koumas and Nathan Blake from his original squad, as well as young striker Robert Earnshaw. Danny Gabbidon will play tonight for Cardiff City FC against Brentford FC before rejoining the squad.
