Chapuisat back in Swiss fold

Stéphane Chapuisat has been recalled by Switzerland for next week's friendly against Austria.

Differences settled
The 33-year-old forward announced his retirement after disagreements with coach Koebi Kuhn following a 2-1 FIFA World Cup qualifying defeat by Yugoslavia in September 2001. However, with their differences settled, Chapuisat returns to the fold for the match at the Saint Jakob stadium in Basel

Opening created
Chapuisat, who plays for Berne club BSC Young Boys, saw an opening in the team created when the 21-year-old Grasshopper-Club striker Mladen Petric, who holds dual nationality, decided to play for Croatia rather than Switzerland. A veteran of USA 94 and EURO 96™, Chapuisat is joined in a 19-man squad by debutants Stephan Keller and Remo Meyer.

Switzerland squad
Stiel, Zuberbuehler, Haas, Henchoz, Keller, Magnin, Bremen, Meyer, Mueller, M Yakin, Cabanas, Celestini, Fournier, Vogel, Wicki, Chapuisat, Frei, N'Kufo, H Yakin.
