Sæternes gets his chance

Nils Johan Semb has called up FK Bodø/Glimt striker Bengt Sæternes to his squad to play Iceland.

Norwegian coach Nils Johan Semb has called up FK Bodø/Glimt striker Bengt Sæternes to the squad to face Iceland in a friendly on 22 May.

Five in seven
The 27-year-old receives his first call up to the national team after an electric start to the new Tippeligaen season, in which he has found the back of the net five times in seven games.

'Call me when I'm good enough'
Before the start of the Norwegian premier division season, Sæternes sent a clear message to Semb saying that he was not interested in playing for the Norwegian reserves. "Call me when I'm good enough for the A-side," he said back in February. Sæternes now gets his chance to impress in front of his home fans, as the friendly is to be played at Bodø's home ground Aspmyra.

No Flo
With Rangers FC striker Tore André Flo absent, Sæternes has a chance to stake a claim for a place in the squad for the EURO 2004™ qualification campaign that starts in the autumn.

Norway squad:
Myhre, Ivar Rønningen, Basma, Berg, Bergdølmo, Hoftun, Johnsen, Arne Riise, Andersen, Andresen, Bakke, Iversen, Leonhardsen, Rushfeldt, Solskjaer, Sæternes, Sørensen, Tessem, Winsnes.
