Twisted knee
The 30-year-old Celtic FC player, currently on loan at Serie A club Ancona Calcio after losing his first-team place in Glasgow to Robert Douglas, twisted his knee in training soon after his first appearance for the Italian side on 1 February and needs an operation.
'I'll be back'
Surgery will take place today and is expected to sideline the Swede for three to five weeks. "I'll be back," Hedman said. "If I get the chance to play seven or eight games there will be no problems with my form ahead of EURO 2004™."
'It's tough'
It is the second time in a year that Hedman has required knee surgery. "It's tough but there's always a limit to what your body can cope with," he said. "This has to be my last surgery if I'm to have a good and long career. I can't take it if I'm hit with another big injury."
