Vogric gets call
Slovenia have already secured second place behind France in Group 1, so Zahovic's absence should not worry coach Bojan Prašnikar unduly. Zahovic, who has a broken toe, is replaced by the in-form NK Primorje striker Marko Vogric.
Karic suspended
The 27-year-old Vogric, who has yet to play for Slovenia, has scored ten goals in as many league games for Primorje this season. Amir Karic will join the squad for the initial get-together but will not travel to Cyprus as he is suspended for the match.
