Buryak gives nod to new boys

Ukraine coach Leonid Buryak has named a 24-man squad for the friendly with Romania to be played at the Shakhtar stadium in Donetsk on 20 August.

Two newcomers
FC Metalurh Donetsk’s Serniy Tkachenko and Oleh Husev, who scored his first goal in European competition against NK Dinamo Zagreb this week, received maiden call-ups.

Shevchenko in
Buryak has included players from six different countries, including AC Milan forward Andriy Shevchenko and Serhiy Rebrov - who is still without a club.

Ukraine lie in third position in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group 6 behind leaders Greece and second-placed Spain, who they meet on 10 September, four days after their encounter with Northern Ireland.
