Article body
Colombia 0-0 Slovakia
Slovakia failed to find a way through a strong Colombian defence in this friendly fixture played in New York.
Unique feat
In a game of few chances at Shea stadium, Branislav and Vladimír Labant made Slovakian football history by becoming the first brothers to play for the national team at the same time. Both teams had their moments, though, and will have benefited from the experience of playing against unusual opposition.
Vittek denied
The European side perhaps shaded the contest with striker Robert Vittek denied in the 53rd minute before midfield debutant Rudolf Urban nearly snatched a late winner in added time. In between, Leider Preciado hit the post for the South American side who competed in this summer's FIFA Confederations Cup.
Remaining fixtures
Slovakia are next in competitive action on 10 September at home against F.Y.R. Macedonia. However, they have no chance of progressing from UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 7.
