The 27-year-old Swiss-Albanian, who has just been given dual nationality, was put on standby by coach Jakob Kuhn for Switzerland's last international, a friendly against Italy in April, but has now made the step up to the full squad.
Group leaders
There were no major surprises in the 22-man party that will host Russia in Basel on 7 June and Albania in Geneva four days later. Switzerland top Group 10 after collecting eight points from four games and are two points clear of second-placed Russia.
