Two second-half goals saw the Faroe Islands overcome Kazakhstan in Tuesday's international friendly in Tórshavn.

Home territory
The Nordic side got the better of UEFA's newest member nation on home territory despite going a goal behind in the first five minutes of their second friendly meeting with Kazakhstan in the space of three days.

Penalty kick
The visitors took the lead after five minutes when Faroese goalkeeper Jens Martin Knudsen pulled down FC Irtysh Pavlodar striker Sergei Skorykh in the box allowing Yevgeni Lovchev to give Leonid Pakhomov's side the lead from the penalty spot.

Flotum levels
However, the Faroe Islands rallied in the second half. Both sides had hit the post before Andrew av Flotum levelled the scores after 65 minutes with a headed finish from Súni Olsen's free-kick. Olsen was the provider again just ten minutes later as his corner was turned into the Kazakh net by Julian Johnsson to give the Faroes victory.

First win
In an friendly fixture in Toftír on Sunday, the Faroes had surprised a Kazakhstan side composed entirely of players from the Kazakh Super League by securing a 3-2 win.

Ongoing challenge
The Faroes are bottom of UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifying Group 5. In their next two qualifiers, they play Iceland on 7 June and Germany on 11 June. Kazakhstan became members of UEFA too late to compete in the current qualifying competition.
