Manchester United FC goalkeeper Fabien Barthez has been ruled out of France’s friendly international against the Czech Republic in Paris next Wednesday through injury.
Injury problems
The experienced goalkeeper, who has 54 international caps, was stretchered off in United 2-0 win at Southampton FC last weekend, and it was subsequently revealed he had suffered damage to both his hip and thigh.
Ramé in
France coach Jacques Santini announced that FC Girondins de Bordeaux keeper Ulrich Ramé will be Barthez’s replacement in the squad, although Olympique Lyonnais’ Grégory Coupet is almost certain to start the game.
