Article body
Petrov stunner
Petrov gave the Bulgarians a 14th-minute lead, taking the ball down on his thigh, shrugging off his marker and letting fly a great volley from the edge of the area.
Kovacevic leveller
Serbia and Montenegro equalised in the 28th minute when Darko Kovacevic's effort was deflected past goalkeeper Zdravko Zdravkov by Ivailo Petkov, but Todorov grabbed a 56th-minute winner for the visitors after a brilliant move down the left.
Sizzling move
The Portsmouth FC forward exchanged passes with Martin Petrov to wrong-foot the defence before stroking the ball past goalkeeper Dragoslav Jevric. Kovacevic and Dejan Stankovic were both denied equalisers by point-blank saves from Zdravkov, while Savo Milosevic rattled the crossbar with a free-kick.
Bulgarian boost
The result leaves Bulgaria in good heart for their trip to Estonia on Wednesday, when the Group 8 leaders will look to stretch their winning run in the UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifiers to four games. Serbia and Montenegro's match with Wales has been postponed because of the state of emergency in effect in Belgrade following the assassination of prime minister Zoran Djindjic.
