Danes working on Plan X

Morten Olsen has been putting Denmark through their paces in private ahead of the game against Bulgaria.

Closed session
The Danish coach held a closed training session today in order to practise new tactics ahead of Friday's game in Braga. "They have seen how we played against Italy, and of course we will mainly stick to our own way of playing," said Olsen. "However we still might want to change a thing or two, and there is no reason to reveal our plans before the match."

Duo available
Meanwhile, Olsen is still pondering the impact of acquiring two extra midfield players for Denmark's game against Bulgaria. In addition to Jesper Gronkjær, who joined the team in Alvor yesterday after flying out from Denmark where he had attended his mother's funeral on Monday, Olsen also has Thomas Gravesen back in contention, after the Everton FC player served his one-match ban during the Danes' opening game against Italy.

Difficult choice
"I have to admit that it is difficult to name the team," Olsen said on Wednesday. "Now that Gronkjær is here we can pick from all shelves, so to speak." However, the coach did reveal that he was not necessarily going to include Gravesen in his lineup for the game. "I must admit that in fact I am in doubt about Gravesen," he said. "He may not be willing to wait any longer to play - but maybe he will have to."

Gronkjær 'adjusted already'
Gravesen, for his part, said: "Everyone in this team will be terribly disappointed not to start on the pitch." Meanwhile, Gronkjær has been quick to stake his claim for a place after completing his second day of training with the squad. "I feel I have adjusted to the heat already," he said. "I have been told by my team-mates that it is even hotter up north, where we are going to play on Friday, but I feel ready for that too."

Krøldrup strain
Only one minor injury disrupted Denmark's day as Udinese Calcio defender Peter Krøldrup missed the late session due to a minor ankle strain. However, team doctor Mogens Keutzfeldt insisted that it was nothing serious, and that Krøldrup would be fully fit in a day or two.
