Fighting talk from Baric

Croatia coach Otto Baric oozed confidence today as he looked ahead to Monday's decisive match against England.

Motivation and morale
"We showed that we can play against stronger teams, we deserved not just a point, we deserved to win," Baric said. "If we can transfer this motivation and morale to the game against England, we will have taken a step towards victory.

Looking to win
"We have been playing well for a while," he continued. "But I always believe that we can do better and I think that after the France game we can do better against England. We must look for a win. We can do that if we play like we did against France."

Rooney threat
For all their bravado, Croatia admit that England are dangerous opponents, and Baric pinpoints 18-year-old forward Wayne Rooney as their biggest threat. "Rooney is an excellent player, very interesting to watch, but I have players who are going to stop him on Monday," he said.

Not afraid
"We can play an attacking game against England. Six months ago we were afraid of England, but that's not the case any more. I'm convinced that we can play for a victory against them," Baric added.

Živkovic due back
On the injury front, defender Boris Živkovic, who missed yesterday's match with a knee problem, should be fit to return and regain the captain's armband from Dario Šimic. "I was saving him for the England game, besides the injury he's also on a yellow card," Baric said.

Tudor consolation
The coach also had words of encouragement for defender Igor Tudor, who scored an own goal last night and supplied the back-pass which led to David Trezeguet's equaliser. "These mistakes happen to the best players," Baric said. "It's not going to happen again."
