Thomas Brdaric will also miss the game in the Dreisamstadion through injury. The Hannover 96 striker, who beat Oliver Neuville to a place in the UEFA EURO 2004™ squad, has a thigh injury and Völler is unwilling to take any risks in the build-up to the finals.
Bremen absentees
The coach will also have to do without SV Werder Bremen defender Frank Baumann and midfield player Fabian Ernst. The Bremen pair are with their club preparing for Saturday's German Cup final against TSV Alemannia 1900 Aachen. With Carsten Ramelow retiring from international football last week, both men are candidates for the vacant defensive midfield role.
