No fear
After draws in their opening two games, Croatia need to win their remaining Group B match against England in Lisbon on Monday to progress to the quarter-finals. However, after an excellent second-half showing in the 2-2 draw with France, Rosso insists it is the English who should be worried. "I am not bothered about England. We know we need to win, but we are not afraid," the Maccabi Haifa FC player said. "Let them worry about us."
'A different team'
Rosso watched much of Croatia's 0-0 stalemate with Switzerland from the substitutes' bench, but started last night's game. He won the 48th-minute penalty from which Milan Rapaic scored the Croatians' first goal, which turned the match and possibly the team's tournament. "We were a very different side from the one that faced Switzerland," the 31-year-old said. "We nearly beat arguably the strongest team in Europe."
Misfortune
Indeed, the result could have been even better for Croatia, had luck not eluded them at key moments in the game. "I didn't think it was a foul prior to the opening goal from [Zinedine] Zidane's free-kick. As for the second goal, it was a clear refereeing error, as [David] Trezeguet clearly handled the ball just before he scored."
