Experienced squad
Coach Alfio Basile picked the core of Argentina's side from last year's FIFA World Cup finals for the friendly in Bern. Defenders Roberto Ayala and Gabriel Heinze, midfielders Lucho González, Esteban Cambiasso and Javier Mascherano and strikers Hernán Crespo and Javier Saviola were also chosen while Real Racing Club Santander midfielder Ezequiel Garay and defender Javier Pinola of 1. FC Nürnberg are called up for the first time. "It's great how well the kids are playing," Basile said of Messi and Tevez. "When we played against France we had Saviola at his best. Now we have Crespo, Messi and Tévez."
