UEFA EURO 2008™ co-hosts Austria and Switzerland are to meet in a friendly international as both national teams begin preparations for the tournament in two summers' time.
Innsbruck encounter
The Alpine neighbours will face one another in Innsbruck, an Austrian finals venue, on 11 October. For Jakob Kuhn's Switzerland, the match will be the second of their post-FIFA World Cup programme, as the Swiss Football Association has also announced a friendly against Liechtenstein in Vaduz on 16 August.
World Cup exit
Switzerland reached the World Cup Round of 16, losing on penalties against Ukraine, while Austria failed to qualify. The UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying competition gets under way on 16 August with games between Belgium and Kazakhstan, the Faroe Islands and Georgia, and Estonia and F.Y.R. Macedonia.
