FC Internazionale Milano striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the rest of the season and probably Sweden's UEFA EURO 2008™ ties against Denmark and Iceland.
FC Internazionale Milano's Swedish international striker Zlatan Ibrahimović will miss the rest of the Serie A season and is also likely to sit out UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against Denmark and Iceland, as he requires surgery on a persistent groin problem.
'Can't keep going'
"I can't keep going like this without surgery," the 25-year-old said, after a visit to a specialist at which it was decided he will have an operation in Amsterdam in the next few days. Ibrahimović has scored 15 league goals this term as Inter clinched their 15th Scudetto with five games to play. He is also sidelined for both legs of the Coppa Italia final against AS Roma on 9 and 17 May.
The lay-off means Sweden could well be without Ibrahimović for their Group F qualifying ties, against Denmark in Copenhagen on 2 June and at home to Iceland four days later. Lars Lagerbäck's side are second in the section, one point behind Northern Ireland with a match in hand.
