Article body
England, Germany and Romania start their UEFA EURO 2008™ commitments for 2007 with tough away trips on Saturday while Greece and Turkey meet in Athens. uefa.com gives a group-by-group breakdown of the state of play.
Group A
With section leaders Finland having a day off, Serbia and Poland will look to grab top spot. A win for Serbia in Kazakhstan would put them in pole position ahead of their meeting with Portugal on 28 March. Poland face Azerbaijan at home and host Armenia four days later. Finland travel to play the Azeris on Wednesday.
Group B
Alex McLeish's reign as Scotland coach begins with a home game against Georgia, while France kick off their 2007 commitments with a trip to Lithuania. Italy and Scotland meet in the section's big game on Wednesday. Ukraine can get back into contention with wins in their games against the Faroe Islands and Lithuania.
Group C
Something has to give as Greece and Turkey meet in Athens. The top two sides in Group C have won all three of their qualifiers to date, but any loser on Saturday could end up third in the section if Norway win at home against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Turkey play Norway on Wednesday while Greece travel to Malta.
Group D
Still smarting from a 1-1 draw in Cyprus in their last qualifier, Germany will look to seize the initiative as they meet the Czech Republic in Prague. The top two sides in Group D are level on ten points, three ahead of the Republic of Ireland. The Czechs travel to take on Cyprus on Wednesday.
Group E
Croatia can consolidate their place at the top of the section with a win at home against F.Y.R. Macedonia. Russia travel to meet neighbours Estonia while third-placed England are desperate for a win in Israel to get their campaign back on track ahead of their game against Andorra in Barcelona on 28 March.
Group F
With section leaders Sweden not in action until Wednesday, when they take on Northern Ireland in Belfast, second-placed Denmark will look to inflict a third successive defeat on Spain in Madrid. Should they fail, a win or a draw in Liechtenstein could put Northern Ireland second in the group.
Group G
In Rotterdam, Romania will look to earn their first win against the Netherlands. The result would see them overtake Bulgaria and join Marco van Basten's side atop the section. The Dutch visit Slovenia on Wednesday, Bulgaria host Albania while Victor Piturca's Romania are at home against Luxembourg.
