UEFA EURO 2008™ co-hosts Austria have begun 2007 with a training camp in Malta that will conclude with an international friendly against the hosts on Wednesday at Ta'Qali.
Defensive focus Austria coach Josef Hickersberger, who is without the injured Christoph Leitgeb (stomach) and Roman Kienast (ankle), will use the sessions at their Maltese base in San Gorg to focus on defensive aspects of his team. "We will work, for example, on the co-ordination between the back four and the defensive midfielders," he revealed. Meanwhile, Austria have announced two further friendlies in their preparations for next year's championship - 24 March versus Ghana (Graz) and 28 March against France (Paris).
