Fog delays France arrival

The France squad spent last night in Bergen, Norway after the plane taking them to their qualifier in the Faroe Islands was unable to land due to dense fog.

The France coach Raymond Domenech hopes today's UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier in the Faroe Islands "will go ahead as expected" despite the team's plane being unable to land in Torshavn because of bad weather last night.

Dense fog
The plane left Paris at noon and stopped off at Aberdeen in Scotland en route to the Faroes, where dense fog and freezing rain in Torshavn caused a re-route to Bergen in Norway. Les Bleus are keen to play today (17.00CET) to ensure the maximum amount of recovery time before Wednesday’s visit of Lithuania. France are third in Group B, one point adrift of second-placed Italy and two behind leaders Scotland.
