David Beckham is likely to miss England's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying games against Israel and Russia after picking up a knee injury during a match with Los Angeles Galaxy.
Recent return
The midfielder will have a scan on Friday to determine the full extent of the injury, but with Steve McClaren's men playing two Group E qualifying games at Wembley Stadium on 8 and 12 September it seems unlikely the former captain will be making another trip across the Atlantic. Beckham had only recently returned to action following an ankle injury, and that may have played a part in his latest problem.
'Doesn't feel good'
"At this stage it's hard to tell, but it doesn't feel good," said Beckham. "A ligament strain is four to six weeks but we'll have to wait for the results of the scan. If it is four to six weeks, I won't be flying to England. I went into a tackle a little light because of my ankle and tried to compensate for that. I'd have been better off not doing it at all. Maybe it's a sign that I need a rest and don't come back until it's right."
