Isaksson woe for City and Sweden

Sweden keeper Andreas Isaksson will miss the start of Manchester City FC's season and possibly his country's next EURO qualifier after breaking a thumb.

'Four weeks'
Isaksson, 25, has suffered a hairline fracture of the thumb and will be sidelined for a month. City manager Sven-Göran Eriksson said: "The medical staff say he will be away for four weeks."

Denmark date
The Premier League club kick off their campaign away to West Ham United FC next Saturday, while Sweden resume their UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying bid at home to Group F rivals Denmark on 8 September. The injury is another setback for a player who started only 12 league matches for City last season following his transfer from Stade Rennais FC.
