Fatih Terim hopes his Turkey side will not be upstaged by a Malta team who are "always training together" as their UEFA EURO 2008™ Group C campaign resumes on Saturday.
Tough customers
Hungary found to their cost that Dušan Fitzel's side can pack a punch on home soil, losing 2-1 in Ta' Qali last October, and with qualification for the finals at stake Terim is not about to take Malta lightly. "Malta are always training together – the national team coach is very lucky in that respect," he told uefa.com. "I have been here three times and each time I have seen an improvement."
'Focus'
Aside from the suspended Marco Aurélio, Terim has a full squad available – and he is grateful to have selection options for what could be a real test for his charges. "We start as favourites but anything can happen," he said. "My players need to be fully focused for this match and I am sure they will be. To win points you have to attack – that has always been my mentality." Turkey, who are third in Group C, won the reverse fixture 2-0 last September.
