Practice-run
The maiden voyage took place on 20 January in the mountains around Switzerland's Chateaux d'Oex resort as preparation for when the balloon is officially launched to signal the countdown to the tournament.
Promotional event
The original UEFA EURO 2008™ trophy is to make stops at 13 venues across Austria and Switzerland, including all eight host cities, as part of the promotional EURO Experience Tour. The event is intended to get supporters in the mood for the competition which gets under way on 7 June in Basel.
Free entry
During these stops, the Henri Delaunay trophy will be presented in the world's biggest inflatable tour tent. Entry is free and the programme will include a film showing the most spectacular action from the previous 12 UEFA European Championships. The day before the event takes place in each city, the official UEFA EURO 2008™ hot-air balloon will ascend to signal the countdown to the start of the tournament.
