Germany coach Joachim Löw has recalled Middlesbrough FC defender Robert Huth and Hannover 96 goalkeeper Robert Enke for the 26 March friendly against Switzerland in Basel.
Back in favour
Huth, 23, will have the chance of winning his first cap since June 2006 – and his 18th overall – after catching Löw's eye with his performances for English Premier League side Middlesbrough. The coach said: "Robert had a long spell on the sidelines because of injury, but has convinced me with his recent displays. That's why he is back in the squad."
Goalkeeping pool
Opportunity also knocks for the 30-year-old Enke, who has played once before for Germany, in March 2007. The Hannover custodian joins Jens Lehmann and Timo Hildebrand in the goalkeeping pool, with Löw saying: "We want to talk with all three keepers and explain to them the situation ahead of the [UEFA] European Championship." Germany will play two more friendlies before the EURO: hosting Belarus on 27 May in Kaiserslautern and Serbia on 31 May in Gelsenkirchen. They launch their finals campaign against Poland on 8 June in Klagenfurt.
