Escudé hamstrung by groin problem

Julien Escudé's hopes of forcing his way into France's UEFA EURO 2008™ squad have all but vanished after he suffered another recurrence of his groin problem.

Escudé has endured a truncated campaign with Sevilla FC, his appearance against Real Valladolid CF on Sunday only his 16th in the Primera División this term. He only lasted until just before half-time, however, limping off with the groin strain that has hindered him all season. The 28-year-old - who won the last of his six caps against Spain in February - has travelled to his homeland for treatment from Dr Jean-Pierre Paclet of the French Football Federation.
