Live coverage
The official UEFA EURO 2008™ website is brought to you by the people behind uefa.com and will offer many new and innovative ways to follow events from Austria and Switzerland. Reporters will be based in each of the team training camps and will report live from each stadium for every game, while a squad of journalists based in Basel and Vienna oversee the best news and video coverage from the tournament in ten languages.
Daily player updates
As well as these traditional areas of reporting, euro2008.com will feature several innovations in live championship coverage on the internet. For example, our reporters will provide daily updates on each of the 368 players and give fans a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes.
Personalised experience
euro2008.com users will be able to personalise their experience, selecting their favourite country so the top banner adopts their colours and presents an instant view of all the latest news. Taking this a step further, users can also customise their personalised euro2008.com with MyPage. They can personalise their page using widgets – small movable versions of the key euro2008.com sections – and even import feeds from other websites. Supporters can take these widgets to their own sites or blogs and export them to social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.
Participate and play
euro2008.com will give users a platform to get involved with UEFA EURO 2008™. Photos can be uploaded with Canon Fan Foto; there will be the Carlsberg Goal of the Day; and fans can even tackle a star player in the Continental Video Quiz. The ever-popular McDonald's Fantasy Football returns and there is also an opportunity to play and win with JVC Predictor. Fans can show their support with the Hyundai Stadium Cheer and play for their side in the EURO™ Challenge.
Have your say
Users will be invited to contribute both to the blogs for each team and to the fan view article for each match, which will complement the work of the still-to-be revealed UEFA EURO 2008™ player who will be blogging for us. There will be regular live chat sessions, with players as well as with top football figures, in which users set the questions.
Live coverage
Chat will also be a central part of the revamped MatchCentre. The build-up for each game will begin live from 12.00CET with live updates from reporters in the city, stadium and team camps, plus live supporter chat. Enhanced live coverage will feature almost every kick, shot and tackle with player tracking, statistics, expert and fan comment supplementing the minute-by-minute text coverage.
Video online
Supporters worldwide will be able to follow the action live on video and access on-demand highlights and full match reruns via the EURO2008 Pass package, available for €19.99.
Detailed history
Fans will also have the opportunity of accessing historic footage from the tournament, taking advantage of an exhaustive history section including match reports on all 173 final tournament games since 1960, profiles, plus a detailed and dynamic look at the balls and kits from EUROs past.
Comprehensive coverage
Each of the 16 sides also has a dedicated section, featuring 368 in-depth player profiles, while the championship will be covered in greater statistical detail than ever before with the comprehensive Castrol Statistics section.
