Must Dos in Seville
1. Get blown away by the cathedral: Built between 1402 and the 16th century, the Catedral de Sevilla, considered the biggest gothic temple in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will leave you awestruck. Make sure you stop by Christopher Columbus’ tomb for a photo.
2. Enjoy its ‘gastronomic’ universe: To officially be part of Seville, you must discover its delicious culinary traditions. Iberian ham for breakfast on a crunchy toast; the traditional chocolate con churros as a snack, lunch or dinner in any of its terraces with some good company and finally let yourself fall for its traditional variety of tapas.
3. Visit Mercado de Triana: In the heart of the Triana neighbourhood, you'll find the Mercado de Triana. Get lost in its numerous alleyways and be sure to try a delicious local orange wine.
4. Appreciate every moment: Seville's days are long, full of life and light, with many activities accessible until late at night. Get lost in the city on foot or cruise through its more than 200 km of bike paths and participate in its intense social life on the banks of the river or in its parks.
5. Feel the genius: You cannot leave Seville without experiencing flamenco, a unique artistic expression that is part of its identity, Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. You can go to the typical tablaos, the place that witnessed the rise of famous figures who nowadays tour the greatest theatres around the world, or you could discover the history of this universal art in its streets and corners.
6. Museums: Seville offers a wide range of cultural activities and its museums, such as the Museum of Arts and Traditions or the Museum of Fine Arts, are an essential part.
7. El Rinconcillo: In the evening you can make a pit-stop at el Rinconcillo, the oldest bar in Seville dating from 1670. This family-owned venue still includes numerous features of its original building, making it a unique place to grab a drink or food.
8. Réal Alcázar: This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must do. With its palace and gardens, you will dive into an astonishing journey through time, from the Arabic period to the Renaissance. Fun fact: the palace is still in use by the Spanish royal family.
9. Most photogenic place: If you’re looking for authenticity, the Plaza de España is your go to. Over there, you’ll find busts of renowned Spanish figures as well as the typical Sevillan azulejos showcasing iconic elements of Spanish culture. But if you’re looking for something a little more contemporary, you should definitely go and check out the mushroom-shaped Metropol Parasol. This 26m-high wooden structure can be climbed, and you’ll get unforgettable pictures from the top.
10. Best place for scenic views: La Giralda will offer you a breathtaking view of Seville’s city centre. You can access it directly from the cathedral, so you might as well make the most of your visit to the city's historical centre and start climbing to reach the top of this 104m-high tower!
