Lehmann out, two in for Germany

Germany coach Joachim Löw has called up Robert Enke and Paul Freier after three players, including No1 Jens Lehmann, pulled out of the Group D qualifier in Cyprus.

Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann will miss Germany's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier in Cyprus on Wednesday because of a heavy cold and has been replaced in the squad by Hannover 96 No1 Robert Enke.

Missing trio
Lehmann pulled out of Arsenal FC's 3-0 defeat of Liverpool FC yesterday and informed Germany coach Joachim Löw that he would be unable to make the Group D trip, in which Timo Hildebrand is set to start. Löw has also called up Bayer 04 Leverkusen midfielder Paul Freier as his club-mate Bernd Schneider sustained a muscle injury during Saturday's 3-2 defeat by FC Bayern München and faces a fortnight out. Freier, 27, last played for his country in a friendly draw against Argentina on 9 February.

Trochowski out
The Hamburger SV midfielder Piotr Trochowski has also been ruled out after damaging his achilles in the weekend draw with VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 22-year-old made a promising debut in last month's 2-0 friendly win against Georgia, but will not travel to Cyprus, where Germany are defending a 100 per cent record after three matches.
