FC Steaua Bucuresti have signed experienced central defender Tiberiu Curt from FC National Bucuresti.
Ahead of their UEFA Cup qualifying round match against FC Neman Grodno of Belarus, FC Steaua Bucuresti have signed experienced central defender Tiberiu Curt from financially troubled FC National Bucuresti.
Curt, who was out of contract with National, has signed a three-year deal with the former European champions. The 28-year-old is a former youth and Under-21 international and has played in the Romanian first division for eleven years, having enjoyed spells with FC Farul Constanta, FC Universitatea Craiova and National.
The move is a severe blow for National, who have seen six players leave this summer and are currently without a coach after the departure of Walter Zenga. Cosmin Olaroiu, the club's general manager, is expected to fill the coaching role for the time being.
