The 42-year-old Karageorgiou, who had been under pressure going into the first round first-leg tie after PAOK collected just one point from their opening two Alpha Ethniki games, said: "I want to thank PAOK's fans for their support. I wish the team good luck in the league and success in the future."
Derby date
Although no announcement has been made regarding Karageorgiou's successor, Konstantinos Iosifidis is expected to take charge in a caretaker capacity with Haralambos Mihailidis providing assistance. PAOK are next in action on Monday when they visit Iraklis FC in the Thessalonika derby.
