Home comfort
The 25-year-old Icelandic international said: "I want to become an established player at Alkmaar and to give them something back. I feel at home here and do not fancy a move to another club." The right-back had been linked with Middlesbrough FC during the close season, but the lure of silverware with the Dutch side has proved too much. "That was nice, but I had already decided to stay with AZ," said Steinsson.
Trophies wanted
"My ultimate aim is to play in the Premier League in England, but first I want to win trophies with AZ." Steinsson had spells with ÍA Akranes in his native country and BSC Young Boys in Switzerland before joining AZ during the 2005/06 campaign. He has scored six goals in 53 Eredivisie matches, and has also registered three times in 23 games for Iceland.
