Southern ties go with the form book

PFC Cherno More Varna and NK Slaven Koprivnica were the night's biggest winners in the Southern section of the UEFA Cup first qualifying round, while APOEL FC, NK IB Ljubljana and KS Vllaznia made it into Friday's draw for the next round by narrow margins.

UE Sant Julià 0-5 PFC Cherno More Varna (agg: 0-9)
Cherno More will be in the draw for the second qualifying round after a second convincing win over their Andorran opponents. They followed a 4-0 home victory with an even bigger success and it was Yordan Yurukov who got the ball rolling heading in midway through the first half. He then doubled the lead six minutes before half-time and almost immediately it was three after a Miroslav Manolov effort. Home goalkeeper Daniel Tremonti scored an own goal following a Georgi Andonov cross and then Andonov himself added the evening's last goal in the 64th minute, although he was sent off just three minutes later.

APOEL FC 1-0 FK Pelister (agg: 1-0)
The Cypriot Cup holders squeezed through against their opponents from F.Y.R. Macedonia after a late goal finally broke the aggregate deadlock. The hosts hit the crossbar twice – through Chrysostomous Michail and Nenad Mirosavljević – as they pressured their visitors relentlessly. Pelister had Kire Ristevski sent off in the 77th minute and were eventually broken down five minutes later when Jean Paulista was brought down in the area. Cypriot international Michail converted the spot-kick and Ivan Jovanović's side held off a late surge to seal their progress.

NK Zrinjski 3-0 FC Vaduz (agg: 5-1)
After a narrow win in the first leg, Zrinjski eased to an overall triumph against their visitors from Lichtenstein. The home side were on the front foot from the start and opened the scoring after just seven minutes through Velibor Djurić. Twenty minutes later, Toni Šunjić got a second to all but seal Vaduz's fate. The away side missed a penalty in the 52nd minute – Sehar Fejzulahi the guilty party – and the hosts rounded off the win when Matija Matko struck ten minutes from time.

FK Partizani 1-3 NK Široki Brijeg (agg: 1-3)
Two goals fromAlexandre Ala do Carmo helped the Bosnia-Herzegovnian side to an excellent away win in Albania and a berth in the second qualifying round. Alo do Carmo capitalised on a rebound to open the scoring after just ten minutes and got another on the stroke of half-time after Gjergj Muzaka had drawn the hosts level from the penalty spot in the 40th minute. The home side needed two second-half goals to progress but it was Široki Brijeg'sDalibor Šilić who had the final say in the 82nd minute.

FK Mogren 0-3 Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona FC (agg: 1-4)
A dominant performance gave the Israeli side their their first victory in European competition as they progressed to the next round. Defender Amir Nussbaum opened the scoring on the half-hour mark with a bullet header and the away team doubled their lead eight minutes after the break through Omer Peretz. Gay Sarfati grabbed Hapoel's third goal in the 68th minute, putting the tie beyond their Montenegrin hosts.

KS Vllaznia 0-0 FC Koper (agg: 2-1)
Vllaznia held out for a goalless draw against their Slovenian visitors to ensure their progress in the competition after a first-leg away win. The hosts took the attack to Koper but could not make for a more convincing scoreline with Gilman Lika particularly culpable, missing two gilt-edged first-half chances. After the break, it was Xheyahir Sukaj's turn to spurn good opportunities and it required a Bishani Olsi save to prevent Koper setting up an exciting finale.

NK IB Ljubljana 1-0 FK Zeta (agg: 2-1)
Croatian striker Dario Zahora scored the game's only goal to help the Slovenian outfit to a narrow aggregate success against Zeta. The home side were indebted to Ivan Jolić's last-minute equaliser in the first leg which gave his team a crucial away goal. This allowed IB Ljubljana to play a patient game and the tactics finally paid off when Zahora struck in the 84th minute to seal his club's progress to the next round.

AC Juvenes-Dogana 0-2 Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC (agg: 0-5)
Two goals in the first seven minutes gave the Israeli visitors victory over their Sammarinese hosts and complete a comprehensive overall success. Ygal Antebi headed Hapoel into the lead after five minutes following Eraj Zehav's knock-down and two minutes later, Antebi turned provider as his pinpoint cross was headed in by new signing Douglas Da Silva.

Birkirkara FC 0-3 HNK Hajduk Split (agg: 0-7)
Hadjuk completed a comfortable aggregate triumph over their Maltese opponents scoring to qualify safely. After winning the first encounter 4-0, the Croatian side took an early second-leg lead after just four minutes, Ivan Strinić the scorer. MladenBartolović added a second on the stroke of half-time and Senidad Ibričić finished the scoring in the last minute.

FK Milano 1-2 AC Omonia (agg: 1-4)
Two late goals secured AC Omonia's aggregate triumph over their hosts from F.Y.R. Macedonia, but for much of the game, the home side were one strike away from levelling the tie. Taking a 2-0 lead into the away fixture, the Cypriot outfit fell behind to an 18th-minute Faruk Statovci opener. They equalised 13 minutes from time through Demetris Christofi and then made sure of the tie's outcome late on asCafú struck.

NK Slaven Koprivnica 4-0 Marsaxlokk FC (agg: 8-0)
The Croatian outfit matched their first-leg win to cruise into the second qualifying round. Mario Bilen got the first for the home side in the 25th minute, but it was not until the 72nd that they struck again. Kristijan Čaval was the scorer and just two minutes later Bojan Vručina claimed the first of his double after waltzing past the goalkeeper and applying a simple finish. His second came in added time after a close-range strike.
