Belgian precedents
The 57-year-old Broos has signed a 12-month contract with Trabzonspor, who finished third in the Süper Lig last season under caretaker coach Ahmet Özen, with boss Ersun Yanal having resigned in late April. The four-time Eerste Klasse Coach of the Year will be the third Belgian to take charge of the club following Urbain Braems and George Leekens
Three titles
Capped 24 times as a defender while playing for RSC Anderlecht and Club Brugge KV, Broos moved into coaching with RWD Molenbeek and then won two titles as coach of Club Brugge between 1997 and 2002. He won a third title as Anderlecht boss in 2003/04 and then worked at KRC Genk for three seasons prior to a brief spell at Greek side Panserraikos FC last season.
