Vojnović gains from Slaven goal rush

Striker Aljoša Vojnović's five-minute UEFA Europa League hat-trick for Croatian side NK Slaven Koprivnica away to FK Milano was a sure-fire way of impressing his latest employers.

Having changed club four times in little over two years, striker Aljoša Vojnović is keen to impress at NK Slaven Koprivnica. His five-minute UEFA Europa League hat-trick for the Croatian side at FK Milano on Thursday was certainly a good start.

Quick-fire treble
If the 23-year-old had fired blanks in the first qualifying round win over Birkirkara FC of Malta, he made amends between the 39th and 44th minutes of Slaven's first-leg tie in FYR Macedonia. His quick-fire treble took the score from 1-0 to 4-0, meaning Koprivnica will have watched Friday's third qualifying round draw with heightened interested even though they face Milano again next week.

There was also personal satisfaction for Vojnović, who joined Slaven this summer for a bargain €50,000 from NK Croatia Sesvete, following brief spells at Norway's Raufoss Fotball and Austria's FC Kärnten. Originally with NK Osijek, where he made 39 top-flight appearances, the forward could celebrate his first career hat-trick.

Maiden treble
"This was my first hat-trick in senior football, I am delighted," said Vojnović, whose new club reached the UEFA Cup first round last term. "But I am not completely satisfied with my performances. I can do better, I just need time to adapt to the team and my new position on the left side of attack. I would be satisfied with ten goals this season. I expected much more fight from the home team. They have some problems and we started aggressively, which is why we got the four goals. Our target had been an away goal, but we took our chance and scored four. It was our day."
