Leon Osman, Everton midfielder
The way we've played last season and this season, especially at home, we are suited to European football – it is about keeping possession, being patient and taking opportunities when they come. That's the style of play we've been adapting and it could be a good competition for us.
We started very well, we created two or three chances in the first two minutes and we nearly scored from a corner as well. We started very positively and maybe that put them on the back foot and we went on to create a number of chances. We managed to score three goals, and possibly could have scored more, but just as pleasing with the way the season's gone is the fact we've kept another clean sheet.
[On scoring after signing a new contract] To agree [the deal] and then go into the game and not only win but score a goal – I couldn't be happier.
[On fellow scorer Steven Naismith] Naisy has been doing that all season. He really took his chance. He really did well. We missed Ross [Barkley] at the start [of the season] and Naisy came in and played in that position and scored goals, and he is still scoring goals.
Roberto Martínez, Everton manager
The way we got on the ball and opened Lille up was very pleasing. We started really sharp, the tempo with which we moved the ball was very pleasing. I am very pleased to see Leon Osman on the scoresheet and with the amount of good football we had attacking-wise and the chances we created against a Lille side renowned for their defensive ability.
Overall what pleased me most was the concentration we showed throughout the 90 minutes to keep a clean sheet. We've conceded one goal in five games, which is a really good return after the start we had, when we looked a little bit soft in that department.
We've had two wins and two draws and are looking forward to the next two games now. Wolfsburg, since we played them, have had a phenomenal period of games not just in the Europa League but in the [domestic] league as well. We know at home they are going to be a team with a lot of energy and press really high up and create chances.
René Girard, LOSC coach
There's not a lot to say – we came up against a stronger team, we couldn't match them and ended up making mistakes. It's never nice to get a beating like this evening. At the same time, we've got to start again and we've seen the work we have to do.
Everton are a very good, solid team and they have all the qualities you need for European football. As for qualification it is not even worth thinking about. It's not mathematically over but we'd need a miracle to get through.
