Aragonés back at Mallorca

Luis Aragonés has been named the new coach of RCD Mallorca, returning for a second spell in charge.

Pacheco disappointment
The 65-year-old Aragonés fills the vacancy left by Jaime Pacheco, who was dismissed on 30 September after a poor start to the season. Tomeu Llompart had been appointed as caretaker manager while the club searched for a replacement.

Short but sweet
Aragonés previously occupied the Mallorca hot seat during the 2000/01 campaign, when he led the team to third place in the league and qualification for the UEFA Champions League. However, he left Son Moix after just one season to return to his first club, Club Atlético de Madrid, with whom he won promotion to the Primera División the following year.

Impressive CV
Aragonés is the most experienced coach currently working in Spanish football. He steered Atlético to their eighth league title in 1976/7 and has won the Spanish Cup four times - three times with the Madrileños and once with FC Barcelona. His previous clubs over the past 29 years have included: Real Betis Balompié, Real Oviedo, Valencia CF, RCD Espanyol, FC Sevilla and FC Barcelona.
