Jenas commits to Newcastle cause

Newcastle United FC midfield player Jermaine Jenas has signed a new five-year contract with the club.

International class
The Premiership team announced the news this morning on their official website. The 20-year-old Jenas, who has won four England caps, joined Newcastle under two years ago in a €7.2m deal from Nottingham Forest FC.

'Terrific career move'
Jenas is the only player to have appeared in all 18 of Newcastle's games this term. "Moving to Newcastle 18 months ago has proved to be a terrific career move for me," he said. "I hope over the next five years we can build on our success. I am looking forward to being involved with a strong and successful team."

Basel challenge
Newcastle host FC Basel 1893 next week in a UEFA Cup second-round tie. Sir Bobby Robson's side lead 3-2 from the first leg in Switzerland.
