UEFA Cup seedings announced

Valencia CF are among the eight seeded clubs for next Wednesday’s UEFA Cup fourth round draw at UEFA’s headquarters in Switzerland.

Spanish outfit Valencia CF - UEFA Champions League runners-up for the past two seasons - are among the eight seeded clubs for next Wednesday’s UEFA Cup fourth round draw at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Former club winners seeded
UEFA has released the seeding list for the draw, and former European club competition winners such as Internazionale FC, Milan AC, BV Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord are also seeded.

Club and association coefficients
The seedings are determined by the individual club coefficients calculated on the basis of the results obtained by each club over the last five European club competition seasons, as well as half of their national association’s coefficient.

Two pots of eight
The 16 clubs remaining in the competition will be divided into two pots of eight clubs each. Each of the pots will contain four seeded and four unseeded clubs. The four seeded clubs will then be drawn against one of the four unseeded clubs in their respective pot.

Quarter-final draw
The UEFA Cup fourth round draw will be followed by the draw for the quarter-finals of this competition. There will be no seeding for the quarter-final draw, which means that each of the eight clubs can be drawn against any of the other seven clubs.

Spring dates
Matches in the UEFA Cup fourth round are scheduled to take place on 21 and 28 February 2002. The quarter-finals are due to take place on 14 and 21 March 2002.
