Maloney wants more at Celtic

Celtic FC striker Shaun Maloney has agreed a deal to keep him at the Scottish Premier League club until 2007.

Two-year extension
The 21-year-old has accepted a two-year extension to his current contract which was due to expire in 2005. "I'm extremely happy here and I want to fight for a place at the club. There was talk about a new contract and when they put it down I was happy to sign it," he said.

Long-term view
The Scottish Under-21 international has managed just ten starts and five goals for Celtic this term due to the form of Henrik Larsson, John Hartson and Chris Sutton. However, Maloney believes he can stake a claim to be the long-term replacement for Larsson, who will leave Parkhead in the summer when his contract runs out.

Teplice test
Celtic, last season's beaten UEFA Cup finalists, return to the competition later this month when they take on FK Teplice of the Czech Republic in the third round.
