Real Zaragoza have bolstered their squad ahead of the forthcoming UEFA Cup campaign with the signing of striker Goran Drulic for €12.8m from Yugoslavia's FK Crvena Zvezda.

Club's most expensive player
The 24-year-old, who this week signed a four-year contract with the Spanish Cup winners, becomes the most expensive recruit in Zaragoza's history.

Hefty price tag
The Yugoslav international said: "I am conscious of what the club has paid and feel a great responsibility as a result of the move. I hope that it will not weigh heavily on me when I come to run out on the pitch, and I know that I will do everything I can to return the club's confidence in me."

New Savo Milosevic?
The centre-forward follows in the footsteps of compatriot Savo Milosevic, who scored 21 goals in his last season at Zaragoza before moving to Italy's Parma AC for €26.7m 12 months ago. And the new arrival in Spain is hoping to make a similar impact: "I play in the same position as Milosevic and I only hope that I can enjoy the same success as he did," said Drulic.

Spanish Cup winners
Zaragoza, who last week appointed new coach Txetxu Rojo, finished 17th in Spain's top division last season and only avoided relegation by a single point. But the Aragonese team ended the campaign on a high with a surprise 3-1 triumph over RC Celta de Vigo in the Spanish Cup final to earn a place in the UEFA Cup.

Placating the fans
Club president Alfonso Solans Solans said the signing of Drulic was "just what the club needed and just what the fans were demanding."
