US Città di Palermo have bolstered their ranks ahead of next season's UEFA Europa League campaign by signing 29-year-old free agent Mauro Cetto.

Cetto, who has penned a three-year deal with the Sicilian club, joins following the expiration of his contract at Toulouse FC. "After almost ten years in France I wanted to live a new experience and play in one of the most difficult leagues there is, like Serie A," said the defender.

"I chose a team that did well in past years. Even though I had a fantastic time with Toulouse I need new motivations and an ambitious club. This is why I immediately said yes when Palermo asked me to join them." Palermo, who finished eighth in Serie A last term, will take part in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round as Coppa Italia runners-up.
