FC Dynamo Kyiv climbed to second in Group E after Denys Garmash's added-time goal earned a 1-0 win against Beşiktaş JK.

Dynamo dominated throughout in the Ukrainian capital but, despite wave after wave of attack, their win was only secured in the last few seconds. With the match in the third minute of added time, Denys Garmash seized his opportunity and volleyed a corner past the otherwise impeccable Cenk Gönen.

Having been held to two draws in their first two matches, Dynamo badly needed victory in front of their own fans. They started purposefully as they set about attaining it too, and Ideye Brown just failed to capitalise on a pair of mistakes by the visiting defence.

Artem Milevskiy, the main architect of Dynamo's forward play in the opening half, twice provided team-mates with clear scoring opportunities during the first 20 minutes, but Oleh Gusev narrowly missed his and Andriy Yarmolenko curled a shot against the far post.

The Turkish outfit were relying on fast, counterattacking football, and that tactic earned Edu a great chance midway through the first half. With just Olexandr Shovkovskiy to beat in the Dynamo goal, the Brazilian forward nonetheless lost the duel as a timely intervention by the 36-year-old Ukraine goalkeeper outside the area rescued his side.

The action soon switched to the other end and the impressive Yarmolenko missed another opportunity in the closing minutes of the first period, his attempt to lob Cenk Gönen coaxing a reaction of great agility from the Turkish keeper.

Despite continuous Dynamo attacks in the second half, chances were shared equally. Beşiktaş's Fabian Ernst fired the ball over from a promising position and Dynamo's Brown headed wide from close range following Yarmolenko's cross. Another centre from Dynamo's promising winger was met by an Andriy Shevchenko header, but once again Cenk Gönen proved equal to it.

There was still time for Dynamo to force a late corner, however, and up popped Garmash to seal victory.
