Shamrock Rovers boss O'Neill set to depart

Shamrock Rovers FC have confirmed that manager Michael O'Neill will leave his post after their final UEFA Europa League Group A game, Thursday's home match against Tottenham Hotspur FC.

The former Northern Irish international, 42, has been in charge of the Dublin club for three seasons and led them to two Premier Division titles as well as qualification for this season's UEFA Europa League. The first Irish team to reach the group stage of a major UEFA club competition, they have lost all five of their Group A fixtures so far.

"Shamrock Rovers can confirm that manager Michael O'Neill will leave when his current contract finishes at the end of December," the club said in a statement. "We would like to thank Michael for the great success he has brought during his three-year tenure, and we wish him the best for his future career."
