SC Braga have added to their Brazilian contingent with the capture of central midfielder Luís Alberto from CD Nacional.

The 28-year-old has signed a contract running until summer 2015 with last season's UEFA Europa League finalists. He first arrived in Portugal with Nacional in 2008 from Cruzeiro EC, and the former AD São Caetano and EC Bahia player – who also had a spell in Saudi Arabia with al-Ittifaq Club – quickly became established in Madeira.

"Braga are a great team that have what it takes to compete for honours and I hope we can challenge for them," Luís Alberto said. "I have the ambition to win trophies and help Braga achieve their goals."

Braga, fourth in the Liga, meet Beşiktaş JK in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 on 14 and 23 February. Five months ago, Luís Alberto featured in Nacional's loss to Birmingham City FC – a side eliminated by Braga in the group stage – in the play-offs for this season's competition.
