Hapoel Tel-Aviv FC have announced that Yossi Abukasis has replaced Nitzan Shirazi as coach with immediate effect.

Shirazi, who has an ongoing health issue, has assumed a new role as the Reds' general manager. He said: "I have my own battle to manage and I have to end my coaching days for now."

The 42-year-old, also assistant national coach, sought clearance from Israel Football Association (IFA) president Avi Luzon to return to the club where he was No2 from 2008 to 2011. "I didn't expect to come back in this way," said Abukasis. "It is still very exciting to be back here and I will try to bring joy to the fans."

Beaten 3-0 on matchday one by holders Club Atlético de Madrid, Hapoel visit A. Académica de Coimbra on Thursday in their second UEFA Europa League Group B fixture.
